On January 14, 2008, The Economic Opportunity Family Health Center,Inc (EOFHC), officially changed its name to the Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Inc(JTCHC). Jessie Trice was a perennial visionaire. She is credited with establishing the strong foundation of this agency and pioneering its path of excellence in providing health care services.
As one of the first comprehensive primary health care facilities of its kind in the country, originally funded by the Office of Economic Opportunity, EOFHC has evolved over the past forty years to be a national leader in the provision of quality, comprehensive primary health care services. Incorporated in 1967, EOFHC began providing services from a trailer in the Model City area of Miami-Dade County. Before EOFHC, residents of the Model City communities had to travel great distances to receive even basic health care. Now with several centers spread across Miami-Dade County, easy access to a premier medical home is available to everyone regardless of ethnic, immigration or economic status.
Today, JTCHC(EOFHC) owns and operates 16 facilities, including clinics in 20 Miami-Dade County Public Schools that are dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. The agency has an executive director at the helm and is governed by a board of directors, 51% of which are users of its services.
At the heart of its operation is the multicultural, multilingual, multidisciplinary staff that includes board certified medical professionals that share a team spirit of commitment to improving the lives of the sick.
